Sony Launches €299 Xperia M4 Aqua (Waterproof) with Android 5.0 Lollipop

Sony is making its presence felt in the smartphone and tablet arena
with two of its latest launches. While the Xperia Z4 Tablet takes the
high-end approach, the Xperia M4 Aqua is more inclined towards the
budget-conscious lot.

The latest mid-ranger in Sony’s smartphone portfolio is an
interesting addition as it borrows the company’s flagship design while
maintaining the cost at reachable points. The specs are not the best,
but can suffice the need for those who are looking to upgrade in the
mid-range smartphone category.

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua highlights include its impressive
waterproofing, long-lasting battery life and ultra-slim build. In line
with most of the Sony Xperia smartphones, the Xperia M4 Aqua is treated
with IP68 certification to withstand water in 1.5m for up to 30 minutes.
The cap-less USB charging port will not affect the device’s inner board
in water or dust. The impressive 2,400mAh battery keeps the handset
charged for two full days and thanks to Sony’s proprietary Ultra STAMINA
Mode, users can go without a charge for up to a week, according to

“Offering the most popular standout features made famous by our
Xperia Z Series; camera capability, two-day battery life and
waterproofing – Xperia M4 Aqua brings a proposition and price, products
in this section of the market simply cannot match,” Sony’s Senior VP and
Head of Sales, Dennis van Schie, said in a statement.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is just as impressive on the hardware front. It
is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with
integrated LTE support and backed by 2GB RAM. There’s onboard storage of
8GB that can be expanded via microSD slot.

Sony does not compromise on the camera, as it has a reputation of
packing great cameras even in mid-range phones. The Xperia Z4 Aqua
sports a 13mp rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5mp front snapper
super-wide angle 88-degree field-of-view lens for your great selfies.
Sony is keeping the interface clean with the latest Android 5.0
Lollipop’s Material Design UI. Other features include NFC, Bluetooth 4.1
and Wi-Fi among usual connectivity options.

Sony said the Xperia M4 Aqua will be available globally this spring.
Buyers can choose from white, black, coral and silver colours for a
suggested price of €299 ($330 or ₹20,000).
