Microsoft is working on a secret project, codenamed “Spartan”, which should offer a light weight browser with sleeker design that feels more like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and will support extensions. Its not like IE (Internet Explorer) 12, according to reports.
ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, is reliable person when it comes about Microsoft. Foley says ” Windows 10 will also keep Internet Explorer 11 for backward-compatibility’s sake, while Spartan will be available for
both desktop and mobile (phone/tablet) versions of the new OS”. Its not sure that this new browser will be available for other competing operating systems.
Spartan is still going to use Microsoft’s Chakra JavaScript engine and Microsoft’s Trident rendering engine (not WebKit), sources say.

When it comes to the name of this Brand New Browser, ‘Spartan’ is just a codename at this point. The name will be announced when its ready to launch. Microsoft may represents Spartan on January 21 when they will uncover the next set of Windows 10 features. This is also not sure that Spartan may comes for Android, iOS or any other Non-Windows operating systems. But Now a days Microsoft also porting their software’s to Non-Windows operating systems, so it might be in its future timeline.
